A Disney official told the outlet that the safety of guests is their "highest priority" and that all park attractions are designed with the necessary safety measures in place. They added that staff are also trained to respond quickly to such events, which is why the ride was halted immediately.
According to NBC News, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health investigated the incident and "did not find any operational issues," spokesperson Katherine Wzorek said in an email on Tuesday.
A Reddit user who claimed to have been on the ride said that several passengers saw the boy fall before it was stopped by staff. The user wrote, "He attempted to exit the ride vehicle at the top of the final drop." Another user responded, "Luck was on his side."
