ALBAWABA - Emergency teams from the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management and farmers are racing against time to combat the wildfire that is rapidly spreading and destroying wheat fields.
According to Sana news, first responders rushed to the scenes of fires across Hasakah province, including blazes that spread from fires in Iraq and have scorched grasslands, crop residues, and wheat and barley fields across the Tell Brak, Tell Hamis and Al-Yaarubiyah sub-districts.
Syria's official news agency said that firefighters were able to put out several fires, and they are working to extinguish the rest and prevent them from spreading to villages and civilian houses, according to a statement by the ministry on Telegram.
Syria's Civil Defense urged people to follow fire prevention measures, avoid igniting fires in agricultural or forest areas, and stop throwing cigarette butts or glass containers near crops. It also called people not to burn dry grass, but instead remove it only through safe methods.
