Damascus Radio on Saturday criticized US Secretary of State Colin Powell’s recent statement, in which he indicated that the US does not need concrete evidence to strike Iraq.
SANA news agency reported that Powell’s statement came in response to Chief weapons inspector Hans Blix’s declaration that his inspectors did not find evidence regarding Iraqi production of weapons of mass destruction.
In its daily political commentary, the radio wondered whether inspection operations of the so-called banned weapons serve as a goal or are just a “tool for other hidden aims”.
The state-run radio expressed sorrow over “one pole’s attempts to direct the UN according to its interests”. (Albawaba.com)
