Czech police have arrested a key international drug trafficker, a Yugoslav-born national who escaped from a Swiss jail seven years ago, a spokeswoman said.
Vasuf Sabani, born in 1961, was captured in Prague last Tuesday, said spokeswoman Ivana Zelenakova. He was slightly injured after resisting arrest, she added.
Sabani was given a 15-year jail sentence in Switzerland in 1992, but escaped from jail barely a year later. An international arrest warrant was issued, and Swiss authorities are expected to seek his extradition shortly.
According to police, Sabani has been living in the Czech Republic under a false identity, claiming to be a businessman -- PRAGUE(AFP)
