The internationally renowned diva, Cesaria Evora, is performing on April 18 in Ibn Khaldoun Hall in Algiers. Cesaria was born in 1941 in the city of Mindelo, in Sao Vicente (one of the islands of Cape Verde). Her father, an alcoholic, abandoned her at the age of 7, and since her mother was not able to take care of her, Cesaria was sent to an orphanage. In the orphanage, Cesaria joined the choir and it there that she learns to sing.
At the age of 47 in 1988, she received her first chance and was invited to Paris to record her first album. Ever since, reports <i>Liberate Algeria</i>, she has already released 9 albums and in 2004 also won a Grammy award.
