At least 58 people were killed and 100 wounded in two car bomb explosions near Iraq's provincial city of Baquba Monday, Reuters reported.

Daesh (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Police and medical sources told Reuters a blast in a marketplace north of the city left at least 51 dead and 80 wounded.

"The attacker managed to pass a checkpoint by lining up with a wedding motorcade and then split off with his explosives-packed vehicle to blow it up in a crowded marketplace," Diyala police captain Mohammed al-Tamimi told Reuters.

A separate attack east of the city left another seven people dead and 25 wounded.
