ALBAWABA - Washington, D.C. President Joe Biden recently addressed the worsening situation in Gaza in a statement, saying that if Hamas released the prisoners it was holding, a quick truce could be achieved.
At a Seattle, Washington, event, Biden stressed the significance of Hamas making this move and said it would allow peace negotiations to quickly go back up.
Recognizing the increased focus on Gaza and the carefully watched events, Biden emphasized how crucial it is to free the captives, especially the women and the elderly, in order to defuse the situation. He restated that Israel has made it clear that it would adhere to a truce if Hamas releases the prisoners.
President Biden's statements follow his earlier declaration that in the case of a major attack on Gaza, the United States will stop providing Israel with armaments assistance. Israel and the US Republican Party have both criticized this position.
While attempts are made to establish a truce and address the humanitarian crises in the area, the situation in Gaza is still difficult.
