Bahrain's Minister of Finance Shaikh Ahmed bin Muhammed Al Khalifa has affirmed that there is no intention to deviate from the principle of the Bahraini Dinar being pegged to the US dollar.

According to BNA, the GCC leaders had previously approved in their meeting in Muscat on December 30 and 31, 2001 the US dollar as a joint stabilizer to the GCC currencies, the Minister said in a statement. He added that biggest part of Bahrain revenues -particularly in terms of oil and aluminum exports - come out of deals with commercial partners who mainly trade in US dollar, affirming that it is "out of consideration to deviate from the US dollar to another currency"
