The Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza) held on Monday evening (June 12, 2006) an award ceremony for its excelling and distinguished companies for 2006 at the Grosvenor House Hotel- Dubai Marina. Singled out for this distinction were 41 from over 5,000 Jafza companies.
Salma Hareb, Chief Executive Officer- Jafza, presided over the ceremony and stated that the theme for this year’s ceremony will focus on beautification, corporate social responsibility (CSR) & environment, health and safety (EHS).
“Corporate Social Responsibility has been occupying an ever increasing role in our society over the past period, and its impacts matter to everyone. Tonight, we acknowledge those entities which have walked the extra mile to embrace positive proactive approaches, which will in turn create a win-win scenario for both the commercial and social cycles,” Salma said.
Future Jafza awards will focus on business-oriented performances and achievements. Clear-cut scientific qualification and participation criteria will soon be communicated to the various companies in Jafza, to enable them to take part in next year’s qualifying rounds.
At the ceremony end, Hareb distributed awards and gifts to the winning companies and promised that the ceremony will become one of Jafza’s annual events for honoring the companies proving distinguished performance in observing the aforesaid criteria.
