On Monday, Palestinian President Yasser hailed the ongoing humanitarian assistance provided by the UAE to the Palestinian people, according to Emirates News Agency.
“I would like to seize this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to the UAE President HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for his generous support to the Palestinian people”, said Palestinian President Arafat in remarks made during his visit to the Sheikh Zayed hospital in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
The hospital has so far received more than 10,000 patients since it was set up last year. It provides free medical services to various sectors of the Palestinian civilian population including families of the martyrs.
Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, who met with a UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) delegation currently visiting Palestine, also praised the RCS under the chairmanship of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs for its tremendous efforts to ease the suffering of the Palestinian people.
“The projects undertaken so far by the UAE's RCS in Palestine, speak for themselves. If anything, they represent the strength of fraternal ties between the two people”, he expressed.
The UAE RCS delegation flew to Palestine this week on a relief mission to distribute 40 tons of essential supplies. The items included winter clothing, medicines and other relief supplies. The delegation was instructed by Sheikh Hamdan to assess the needs of the Palestinian civilian population in view of the economic blockade imposed by Israel in recent months. (Albawaba.com)
