The 68-year-old president of Algeria, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, is reportedly in good condition after undergoing surgery for a stomach ulcer, a presidential report revealed on Monday.
“The medical follow-up for the head of state has until this moment confirmed that his state of health requires no cause for concern,” a medical bulletin stated, according to ASP.
Bouteflika left Algiers for treatment in France a week and a half ago, and was reportedly treated at a military hospital in Paris.
Medical staff at the Val de Grace Hospital reported that the Algerian president was suffering from a hemorrhagic ulcer, and was transferred to France for treatment at the advice of his doctors in Algiers.
“This surgical act was carried out in excellent medical conditions and, like the post-operational phase, occurred in an entirely satisfactory manner," the statement added.
