ALBAWABA - In video released by Al-Jazeera, the Hamas military arm, the Al-Qassam Brigades, attacked an Israeli reconnaissance patrol east of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza with a kamikaze drone assault. The footage, which was made public on Sunday, captures the precise moment the drone hit its target.
The video, which was first taken last Thursday, October 10, 2024, shows the "Zuari" kamikaze drone, also called "Aqab," being used. Prior to its deployment, the drone was outfitted with a camera. The drone targeted a patrol that included four troops and two Israeli military jeeps.
Al-Qassam fighters can be seen in the video setting up the drone, monitoring the patrol, then taking off toward the target. Other sequences depict the collision, a smoke cloud from the explosion, and fighters praising the successful attack.
Al-Jazeera also pointed out that Al-Qassam has previously made similar videos public, showing assaults on Israeli troops stationed within buffer zones and along the Gaza border.
Videos depicting strikes against Israeli cars and personnel have been frequently released by the Al-Qassam Brigades since Israel began its extensive military campaign in Gaza at the end of October. These include direct attacks on Israeli forces, explosive ambushes, and anti-tank missile strikes that target command centers and people on many fronts.
