ALBAWABA - According to the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights, pro-Iranian fighters including a leader were killed Tuesday in air strikes in war-torn eastern Syria.
"Nine pro-Iranian fighters, including a leader and a Syrian, were killed and more than 20 wounded in air strikes targeting the villa they were staying in, which served as a communications center," the Observatory stated, not specifying the origin of the strike.
It is believed that the death toll is likely to rise, as there was a massive number of injuries, 20+, most of whom are recorded as severe.
According to Syrian government-backed media, the latest strikes were carried out by Americans. According to the Observatory, a few hours earlier, an Iranian cargo plane traveled from Damascus to the eastern city of Deir Ezzor, carrying technical equipment and Revolutionary Guard soldiers.
The Guards, who are in charge of Iran's foreign operations, had taken over the villa that was targeted and entirely destroyed during the strike.
