Indiana state Governor Mike Pence is being sued over actions taken to halt resettlement activities for a Syrian family in his state, the Associated Press reported.
The Syrian family was rerouted from Indianapolis to Connecticut on Novemeber 18 by state agencies acting on orders from Governor Pence, who expessed objections to the arrival of refugees in Indiana following attacks in Paris that killed 130 people.
According to The Indianapolis Star, the lawsuit was filed Monday night on behalf of the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana. The union is accusing Pence of violating constitutional and civil rights by selectively accepting refugees from other countries, but not those from Syria, the AP reported.
A gubernatorial official did not return the newspaper's request for comment.
