Fireworks factory explosion kills 7 people in India

ALBAWABA - Local Indian media reported that an explosion jolted a fireworks factory in Madhya Pradesh province, resulting in the killing of at least 7 people, and injured 75 so far. 

"We can confirm seven deaths so far. We have 65 injured admitted here, and have referred 10 others to a bigger hospital." an official at Harda district hospital in central Madhya Pradesh state told AFP, asking not to be named as they were not authorized to speak to the media.

"At least eight people had very serious injuries... we are here at the site and focused on rescue work and sending people to the hospitals, so we can't immediately confirm the number of dead," rescue efforts coordinator and senior district official Kailash Chand Parte stated to AFP.

According to the Times of India, the explosion was so intense that its effect was felt in a radius of 15 kilometers.

"We have managed to rescue about 70 to 75 people with various injuries so far. All of them have been rushed to local government hospitals" Parte added.

According to local reports, the explosion was so powerful that it damaged at least ten buildings near the complex where it occurred. The fire is still not under control, and we have approximately 15 fire engines and many rescue workers on the scene.

Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, took to X to express his sorrow over the tragic news, stating that rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the area. 

"Ambulances are being rushed to Harda from the surrounding areas, and the army has been contacted to arrange for helicopters," Yadav said.
