5.0-magnitude earthquake strikes Dhofar, Oman

ALBAWABA- Muscat — A moderate earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck Oman’s Dhofar Governorate on Sunday afternoon, according to the Earthquake Monitoring Center at Sultan Qaboos University.

The quake occurred at 2:32 PM local time, with its epicenter located near the Hallaniyat Islands in the Wilayat of Shalim. Authorities have not yet reported any casualties or significant damage.

The Earthquake Monitoring Center continues to observe the situation closely as aftershocks remain possible. Meanwhile, local officials have urged residents to stay alert but reassured the public that the quake’s impact appears to be limited.
