ALBAWABA - In Jabalia, northern Gaza, Palestinian resistance organizations claimed credit for two major operations against Israeli soldiers, while the Israeli army reported detecting five missiles fired from Gaza.

The Israeli military acknowledged to Al Jazeera that two rockets were intercepted by its air defenses, while the other missiles fell into open spaces. Sderot, Nir Am, and other communities close to the Gaza border heard warning sirens in response to the missiles, which were allegedly fired from Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza.

Israeli media reported damage from one missile in Nir Am. According to Israeli police, missile pieces were discovered in three different sites in Sderot, and emergency services sent teams to investigate possible injuries in regions where sirens were triggered.

According to Al Jazeera's broadcast, the Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military arm, said that they had hit a rescue force east of Jabalia with a Yassin 105 shell and targeted an Israeli Merkava tank with a high-explosive device. In the meanwhile, the Islamic Jihad's military wing, Saraya Al-Quds, claimed responsibility for blowing up a home in the same neighborhood that was housing Israeli troops. This was done in cooperation with Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades.

Helicopters took wounded troops to hospitals in Beilinson and Tel Hashomer, according to Israeli media reports, who also revealed that one Israeli soldier had died during the fighting in Gaza.

Al-Qassam Brigades said that their members seized an Israeli military base in Jabalia on Saturday, fought closely with Israeli soldiers, and caused fatalities.

On October 5, Israeli soldiers resumed their push into northern Gaza, escalating the confrontation. By evicting civilians under constant bombardment and blocking the entrance of basic supplies like food and medication, Palestinians accuse Israel of trying to create a buffer zone.

The Israeli army said last week that it was expanding its operations in northern Gaza, moving from Beit Lahia to regions west of Beit Hanoun.
