ALBAWABA - A report by the Israeli army confirmed the killing of five IOF soldiers "in battles" in Jabalia, north of Gaza without providing further details on the cause of their death.

The IOF released a statement Thursday morning saying that the five soldiers were killed in "friendly fire" in Northern Gaza. The IOF report said that the number of Israeli troops killed since Israel initiated its ground invasion in Gaza has risen to 278.

Israel launched its latest operation in the Jabalia camp earlier this week, killing and injuring dozens of people in brutal aerial strikes in addition to fierce fights between troops and Hamas' armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades fighters.

On Wednesday, the Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility for killing at least 12 Israeli soldiers at the Jabalia camp. The Israeli army has not acknowledged any losses in line with Al-Qassam's announcement but has stated that one soldier was killed in combats in Gaza's south.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Israeli army announced its withdrawal from the Zeitoun neighborhood south of Gaza City, following a second week-long military operation.

Palestinian medical workers reported finding ten bodies in the area after Israeli forces withdrew. According to health ministry estimates, Israel's assault on the Gaza Strip has killed at least 35,233 people, the vast majority of whom are women and children.

Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel

Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The latest statistics by the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the death toll from Israeli brutal pounding on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has soared to 35,233+ people, with more than 79,141+ injuries.

Since then, approximately 85% of Gazans have been displaced, all of whom are suffering from severe food insecurity, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Hundreds of thousands of people lack shelter, and aid trucks are entering the area at a lower rate than before the conflict began.
