As students from kindergarten through high school have recently started the first day of school across the country, excitement has also reached its peak amongst the teachers, staff and students at the brand new United School of Al Yahar in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi.

Moreover, students at the United School of Al Yahar got more than one reason to rejoice – the brand new school campus has been completed just in time and offers state-of-the-art teaching materials such as the electronic smart boards, projectors and science and computer labs. Only highly qualified instructors with vast experience in teaching in different countries have been recruited. The idea at the United School of Al Yahar is "Bringing the best of the 'East & West' to the same school.

In-School Independent Reading

Bringing a difference to the education sector, a highly popular practice has also been adopted at the United School of Al Yahar. At the beginning of each day, all students, teachers and administrative staff are required to devote 20 minutes of their time reading a book. It is hard not to feel the unique atmosphere with absolute peace in school premises as every member of the school community is absorbed in reading their favored title. Of course, teachers recommend the best titles that would suit the level and interest of their students.

UNITED DIFFERENCE

The school has accepted Kindergarten to 9th grade students for the 2010-2011 School Year. Based on the staff's international experience, a unique, rigorous academic program to prepare the students for a quality university education is now on offer.

Said Mr. M. Fatih Kok, General Manager of United School of Al Yahar: "In our school, high quality teachers help create a conducive education environment where each student will be able to develop life-long learning skills including self-assessment, goal-setting, critical thinking, problem solving, effective communication, self-discipline, and creative expression."

Mr. Kok added, "We shall also not forget that this educational project would never be realized without the support of the country's visionary leaders and warm and welcoming people. We thank them all for their continuous commitment and investment in the future of the UAE."
