After just over a year since he rocked at Blended, the R&B star is headed back to Dubai on May 26!
Last year Thicke and Pharrell were embroiled in a copyright trial with Marvin Gaye's family, who accused the pair of plagiarizing Marvin Gaye's song Got to Give it Up in their monster 2013 hit Blurred Lines. The controversial ruling saw the songwriters hit with a $7.4 million fine, but that didn't stop Thicke from performing it for Dubai audiences.
Blurred Lines also caused controversy for its misogynistic lyrics and raunchy video lead to the song being banned from the dancefloor of twenty British universities and Thicke being awarded "Sexist of the Year" by the End Violence Against Women Coalition. Thicke was also dogged by allegations of infidelity which led to a painful and very public end of his nine-year marriage to Paula Patton.
Putting controversy behind him, Thicke released Morning Sun, dedicated to new beginnings, and featuring Nicki Minaj on the single 'Back Together'.
This year's gig will be at Eden Beach Club at Rixos the Palm Dubai. For ticket information, contact 04-2771477 or [email protected].
