French newspaper Le Parisien reported that Moroccan star Saad Lamjarred was "over the drinking limited and under the influence of drugs" when he was arrested in Paris on Wednesday 26 October, 2016.
The 35-year-old singer remains in police custody until Tuesday this week, when he is scheduled to stand in court on charges of attempted rape.
A legal source told France Press that Saad's 20-year-old alleged victim's body has shown visible signs of sexual assault.
If proven guilty, Lamjarred faces up to 20 years behind bars.
