Lebanese journalist and actress May Sahab, from OTV, has been the vitcim of a devestating loss after her husband photographer Khalil Hajjar was killed in a traffic accident in front of a local Dunkin Donuts.
In details to have emerged with the news, that cannot be good for Lebanon's already stewing sectarian situation - aggravated by the Syrian spillover - it was revealed that a man of Syrian nationality driving a pickup was said to have been dozing off when he lost control of the steering wheel. The truck reportedly hit the sidewalk in front of Dunkin Donuts, fatally injuring the 30-something Khalil and gravely wounding a young woman and man along with him.
Khalil passed away in hospital after tireless attempts to save him failed.
May and Khalil, united in love after a 15 year-long affair, have been separated in a flash by a freak road accident. If the accident wasn't tragic enough already, Hajjar is survived by his 10 month old baby girl.
