Naomi Campbell is all over the news this week, and it's not because she's headlining a new fashion campaign or tripping on the catwalk with her 9-inch heels. Nope, she's made headlines for tweeting a congratulatory message to Malala Yousafzai... or Malaria as she's put it!
The British supermodel tweeted this on October 11 when she attempted to congratulate the young Pakistani Human Rights Activist on winning a Nobel Peace Prize.
How cringeworthy! It's totes embarrassing for a public figure to misspell a simple name like Malala's for a terrible disease. But then again, no one ever said models combined beauty with brains!
But just to be fair, The i suggested we all consider the following points before judging the long-legged fashion icon:
1. This is clearly an autocorrect error
2. It’s somewhat heartening that Naomi Campbell seemingly writes her own tweets
3. The sentiment was clearly there to congratulate an amazing and inspiring teenager who just became the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate
Either way, Naomi quickly deleted the tweet (Rihanna-style!) and replaced it with this Instagram photo instead:
Naomi wrote a clarification message to justify her ill mistake, "Darlings my iPhone and I are at odds it seems I type a word it seems to spit out another , forgive me. CONGRATULATIONS @malalafund on your #2014 NOBLEPEACEPRIZE #YOUNGESTEVER # RESPECT # #inspire #admire."
It's OK Naomi, we know it was all autocorrect's evil-doing!
