We were worried about it and clearly with reason. Avicii was scheduled to hit up Dubai's Atlantis the Palm this weekend for a mind-blowing, "Wake Me Up" experience, but alas it's not to be so.
The Swedish DJ was admitted to the hospital in the United States suffering from abdominal pain and nausea. It was then discovered that he needed both his appendix and gall bladder removed in surgery. His Ultra Festival performance was cancelled due to these health issues, and now the recovery process will prevent him from coming to the Middle East this weekend.
With Bahrain F1 fans likewise bummed and wiping their eyes with Fine, Avicii ticket holders in Dubai also have something to cry about as there will be quite the void in their weekend plans now. Fortunately, they'll be refunded their money, but that's a small consolation for such a loss.
Earlier today the musical genius gave a Twitter update on his health, posting, "Still in hospital ! At least im finally catching up to season 2 of House of cards."
Fans might be forced to take on a TV show marathon too to pass the time this Friday. Which series will it be for you?
