ALBAWABA - A short Mecha anime called Chrono Bravers recently sparked controversy after fans noticed that the whole show will be made with generative AI and is set to air on national Japanese TV in July.
Many viewers voiced their disapproval on social media, calling out issues such as an inconsistent art style and poor production. A Japanese internet user wrote on YouTube, "The art style changes from scene to scene, so it's likely to become difficult to tell who's who."
Another added, "It's hilarious how they can only use AI, resulting in shoddy subtitles that look like something an incompetent employee would make in PowerPoint."
Chrono Bravers: This fully AI anime is set to air in Japan soon
A user on My Anime List wrote after watching the Chrono Bravers preview trailer, "lmfao this makes Blue Lock look like a masterpiece ngl. The visual is jarringly inconsistent, and the animation is far worse than even the sloppiest ones I've seen. I suppose the plot, characters, music, and VA are also a** too. Not sure about the evolvement of gen-AI in the future, but currently, I don't think I can support this kind of garbage."
According to online reports, Chrono Bravers is set to premiere on Tokyo MX, a television station owned by the Tokyo Metropolitan Television Broadcasting Corporation. The anime's official YouTube channel shared the preview back in May. However, debate just recently picked up regarding its heavy use of generative AI.
