Organizers of a Bahrain concert by international DJ and producer Avicii say they are trying to reschedule his performance, after a planned show this weekend was cancelled.
The 24-year-old, whose real name is Tim Bergling, has cancelled his appearance at the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix this Saturday due to a blocked gallbladder.
He also pulled out of shows in Miami last Saturday and in Dubai this coming Friday and is now recovering from an operation to remove both his gallbladder and appendix.
The Wake Me Up and Hey Brother star had been suffering "serious pain" since last Wednesday, he told his fans on Twitter.
"My fans know that I have had issues in the past with my stomach and pancreatitis," Mr Bergling said.
"I woke up on Wednesday morning with serious pain, but I flew to Miami anyway, hoping that it would go away."
However, the pain did not subside and Mr Bergling underwent surgery on Sunday, when doctors removed both his gallbladder and a ruptured appendix.
"Now I feel like s**t, but at least I'm on the road to recovery," he added.
The Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) confirmed that Avicii would be unable to perform at the Formula One yesterday.
"Avicii, currently recovering from surgery, has been advised by doctors to curtail all activities for now.
"We wish him all the very best," the BIC said in a statement.
"We are currently studying different options for rescheduling Avicii's concert to a later date. Stay turned for more information."
The star has also had to pull out of his appearance at Atlantis The Palm in Dubai, where he was scheduled to perform on Friday.
This is not the first time a global music star has had to cancel an appearance at the BIC at the last minute.
In 2012, dance music group LMFAO was scheduled to provide the closing performance for that year's Formula One, but cancelled after their lead DJ injured himself during a concert in Thailand.
