The 26th edition of the Aswan International Sculpture Symposium has been postponed to January 2022, the symposium’s Supreme Committee revealed in an official announcement last week.
Originally planned to take place between January and March 2021, the symposium’s aim was to bring together sculptors from Egypt, Russia, Brazil, Belgium, and India.

Operating under the Egyptian Ministry of Culture’s Cultural Development Fund, the event accepted artists’ entries for participation until mid-December 2020.
As the preparations continued to take place, the precautionary measures put in place by the Egyptian government with the aim of curbing the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused the suspension of more than one festival.
The Aswan International Sculpture Symposium was founded in 1996 by the late artist Adam Henein, and has taken place annually since.
The symposium invites Egyptian and international artists to create works, mainly from granite, in an open air location in Aswan.
