ALBAWABA The revelation that Chinese scientists are experimenting with a highly lethal mutant COVID-19 strain, designated GX_P2V, has sparked alarm within the scientific community.
This deadly virus, engineered to be 100 percent lethal to "humanized" mice with genetic similarities to humans, demonstrated a particularly ominous characteristic: it attacked the brains of the genetically modified rodents.
According to a paper published on the bioRxiv website on January 3, Chinese military-trained doctors developed their version of the "pangolin coronavirus" and exposed a group of mice to study its effects. Shockingly, all mice infected with the live virus succumbed to the infection within 7-8 days post-inoculation, revealing a disturbing lethality.
The study observed weight loss in infected mice within five days, followed by signs of sluggishness and white eyes on the seventh day. Notably, the viral load in the lungs decreased by day 6, but viral RNA loads and titers in brain samples substantially increased, pointing to severe brain infection as a potential cause of death.
The findings underscore the need for careful monitoring and international cooperation to address potential public health threats arising from experimental viruses.
