Early Monday morning, Jordanian border guards arrested five people who were planning to smuggle ammunition from Syria, according to AFP.

“The guards arrested five people and seized their car,” the army stated on its website.

The Jordanian government estimates that there are more than one million unlicensed guns in the Hashemite Kingdom. Attempts to smuggle weapons and ammunition across the border are a common occurrence but the plans are frequently foiled.
