ALBAWABA – Billionaire and world-known businessman, Warren Buffet, has made his stance on the increasingly expanding Artificial Intelligence technologies, sharing deep concerns about its harmful potential in the scamming industry, going as far as comparing it to a World War 2 atomic bomb.

Throughout a yearly shareholder meeting for his company, Berkshire Hathaway, CEO and Chairman Warren Buffet shared his remarks about AI, saying his worries stem from how much fake and artificial images, videos and audio are hard to distinguish from real ones, according to Business Insider, explaining how scammers are going to take advantage of the tech.

“When you think of the potential of scamming people […] if I was interested in scamming, it's going to be the growth industry of all time,” the multi-billionaire investor said, adding how he was baffled by a deepfake video of his own self asking for money, “I practically would have sent money to myself over in some crazy country.”

Buffet highlighted in his speech that despite his limited understanding of AI, its potential for harm is high, comparing the dangers of AI to that of an atomic bomb saying “we let the genie out of the bottle when we developed nuclear weapons […] AI is somewhat similar.”

“Obviously, AI has potential for good things too, but ... I do think, as someone who doesn’t understand a damn thing about it, it has enormous potential for good and enormous potential for harm — and I just don’t know how that plays out,” he added.

Buffet noted not knowing much about AI, however stating that that does not imply his rejection of its presence or significance, adding that “whether it’s going to change the future of society, we will find out later.”
