ALBAWABA  - As anticipation builds for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 series, there are whispers of an unexpected star emerging alongside it.

Rumors are circulating that Samsung plans to introduce the Galaxy Ring, a unique smart ring, which some speculate might outshine the Korean tech giant's flagship phone.

Hints of the Galaxy Ring's existence have been surfacing since October of last year. Now, there's talk that Samsung might be gearing up for a launch announcement as early as January.

Notably, @UniverseIce, a reputable source on Weibo, goes further to suggest that the Galaxy Ring won't just be introduced but could become a "star product," potentially eclipsing even the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S24 series.

While it's conceivable that the Galaxy Ring could hit the market sooner than January, obtaining the necessary medical device certifications might be a hurdle for Samsung, possibly causing some delays. Based on indications from trademark filings and patents, the Galaxy Ring is expected to boast features like a heart rate monitor, an electrocardiogram (EKG), and sleep tracking. It could also incorporate functions seen in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, including step tracking and blood oxygen monitoring.

Meanwhile, Apple's smart ring, often referred to as the "Apple Ring," has also made headlines recently with the unveiling of a new patent.

Regardless of the timeline, the Samsung Galaxy Ring appears poised to carve a niche as one of the most high-profile smart rings to date. Its potential to rival competitors like the "Oura" ring and even secure a spot among the best fitness tracking devices in the market has industry observers buzzing with excitement.
