QAIA traffic continues growth trend in september 2013

Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), has announced passenger traffic and aircraft movements growth for September 2013.
Passenger traffic rose by 2.8% to reach 561,205 passengers this September compared to 545,941 passengers in September 2012. Year-to-date passenger numbers also witnessed a 2.95% upturn, settling at 4,969,779 passengers in comparison to 4,827,192 year-to-date passengers of September 2012. Similarly, September 2013 aircraft movement increased by 1.89% to stand at 5,669 as opposed to the 5,564 recorded in the same month in 2012. Year-to-date aircraft movements also went up 0.22% at 51,174, in comparison to the 51,063 achieved during the same period in 2012.
“The organic growth experienced in September is largely due to summer vacationers returning from AMM to the GCC, as well as to increased flight capacity triggered by greater demand on specific routes such as those of Doha and Kuwait,” said Kjeld Binger, AIG’s CEO. “It’s also important to note that overall flight frequency and seat capacity have been expanded since September 2012, which explains the year-to-date results.” Binger went on to state that he expects maintained positive momentum in passenger and aircraft movement growth throughout 2013.
