Ooredoo, Kuwait’s fastest network for 2016, continues to exert efforts to support government entities in raising awareness about breast cancer, one of the world’s most pressing health issues. This comes in alignment with Ooredoo’s commitment to the Global Goals project of the United Nations, which was adopted by Ooredoo in 2015, with a great focus on the third and fifth goal which focus on good health and gender equality.

Stemming from this commitment, and in alignment with the company’s continuous efforts and belief in caring for its employees, Ooredoo is working both externally and externally to raise awareness about breast cancer early detection during October, the breast cancer awareness month.

Support and Endorsement

Ooredoo is happy to endorse for the second consecutive year the nationwide initiative Fight Like a Girl, which will be held in Jumeirah Hotel on the 22nd of October. The event will be attended by a number of activists in the field of gender equality, women’s rights, in addition to prominent doctors and health professionals, social dignitaries and diplomats. The event highlights the importance of regular screenings among women and early detection, since breast cancer is one of the most prevalent forms of cancer in Kuwait today.

Caring and Connecting

Continuing its effort to support the health and wellbeing of its employees, Ooredoo is happily kicking off a series of seminars and activities for its employees in its head office starting today under the Health Week initiative. The program aims to raise awareness about nutrition, diabetes, general health in addition to a first-aid certification program and a blood drive.

Competitions and Lectures

Additionally, the program includes a number of lectures and seminars by doctors and health professionals who will discuss breast cancer and early detection methods, managing diabetes through diet, achieving optimal health through diet and exercise, in addition to talks about Ayurveda and alternative medicine, wholesome and organic diet tips, and first aid. The program also includes live cooking shows and competitions, in addition to sports tournaments for its employees. Celebrating the breast cancer awareness month, Ooredoo building is now lit in purple to support this global initiative.

A Color for Each Day

Ooredoo employees’ blood drive will take place on Tuesday the 18th of October, while medical staff will be present throughout the week to check blood pressure, glucose level and perform other routine tests. To distinguish each day, each theme will carry a different color: green for nutrition, red for blood drive, blue for diabetes, yellow for first aid, and pink for breast cancer.

Ooredoo is committed to support national and global initiatives throughout its various activities, with its comprehensive social responsibility policy both internally and externally.
