Marks & Spencer expands in Egypt
After the substantial success of their first store, located in Dandy Mall, which opened late last year, Marks & Spencer inaugurated their second store located inside Citystars. The store will be situated on the first floor of Phase 2 of Citystars.
Attended by the British Ambassador, HE James Watt, Steve Hammett the President of Retail for Al Futtaim Group, Ahmed Haroun, Chairman of Alfa Egypt Trading Company, part of the AL Futtaim Group, James Harvey, Marks and Spencer’s International Area Manager and Bruce Bowman, Marks and Spencer’s Head of Operations MENA, along with senior management from Marks and Spencer, and high level officials from Al Futtaim Group; who owns the rights to Marks and Spencer in the Middle East; the store was opened at approximately 10 am, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with officially launched Marks & Spencer’s Citystars store.
Discussing their latest expansion in the Egyptian market, Steve Hammett, President of Retail, Al Futtaim Group said “Marks and Spencer’s store will offer a gross footage spanning over 1,600 square meters and a mix of retail options including men, women and children’s fashions, accessories, lingerie and beauty items.”
The store which will launch with their brand new autumn collection will include well known men’s wear brands such as Blue Harbour, North Coast and Autograph as well as a range of women’s wear options for all occasions from casual and leisure to smart. The women’s wear range will also include a global favourite, the Indigo collection and children’s clothes for baby’s right up to the teenage years will also be available.
Given the high levels of foot traffic that Citystars brings in on a daily basis, Marks and Spencer’s newest store is expected to generate substantial sales and predicted to be a great success.
