Jazeera Airways inaugurates flights to newly-opened Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central

Jazeera Airways today joined the launch celebrations of Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central (DWC), the Middle East’s newest airport, with the operation of a ceremonial flight by Jazeera Airways from Kuwait to Al Maktoum International carrying government officials and media from Kuwait.
The Airport’s launch ceremony was attended by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and constitutional monarch of Dubai, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Fawaz Al Farah, President of Kuwait’s Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Mr. Marwan Boodai, Jazeera Airways Chairman. The launch activities included a tour of the airport, a press conference chaired by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed and co-chaired by Mr. Marwan Boodai. The conference was attended by Dubai-based and Kuwait-based officials, delegates and press.
Jazeera Airways Group Chairman, Marwan Boodai, said, “We’re glad to be one of the first airlines and the first one in the region to extend our support to the newly-opened DWC which aims to be one of the leading airports in the world in the coming years in terms of both capacity and size. We look forward to continue strengthening our partnership with Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai International Airport, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and the Dubai Emirate as a whole.”
Boodai added, “Al Maktoum International at DWC adds another dimension to Dubai’s travel market, it is well positioned not only for weekenders from Kuwait for its proximity to Jumeirah and the resorts in that area, but also for customers who want to avoid the city altogether. Additionally, Al Maktoum International at DWC serves customers flying to Abu Dhabi.”
Jazeera Airways’ flights to Al Maktoum International Airport will complement the airline’s operation to Dubai International Airport (DXB), which will remain unchanged at an average of 25 flights per week. Jazeera Airways will operate two flights a week every Thursday and Saturday to the new Al Maktoum International Airport.
Dubai is the leading destination for travelers from Kuwait, attracting high traffic of business, weekend and same-day business travelers and shoppers.
The airport is close to Dubai’s resort city of Jumeirah and the Dubai Marina areas, both known for their five star resorts, hotels, malls and recreational activities. The airport is directly accessed through three primary trans-emirate road networks, Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road. Access is also provided by public transport services including buses, taxis and the metro rail network that extends to the Ibn Battuta shopping mall nearby. DWC is at close proximity to the Jumeirah Village, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Investment Parks, International Media Production Zone, Sports City, Motor City and the Arabian Ranches.
Al Maktoum International is a key component of Dubai Airports’ long-term expansion plan. The airport starts receiving passengers with an immediate capacity to handle seven million passengers annually. Upon completion, Al Maktoum International will become the world’s largest airport with five runways and an ultimate capacity of 160 million passengers and 12 million tons of cargo per annum.
Jazeera Airways serves from Kuwait 19 popular destinations in the Middle East, including high-demand business, leisure, family, and weekend destinations such as Dubai, Bahrain, Beirut, Alexandria, Amman, Istanbul, Sharm El Sheikh, Luxor, Assiut, Sohag, Mashhad, Jeddah, Riyadh, Cairo and Al Najaf.
The airline operates seven fully-owned Airbus A320s, each fitted with a two-class cabin comprising a Business Class and an Economy Class. Business Class travelers get both an upgraded experience and exclusivity, starting with exclusive check-in lines, business lounge access, up to 60 kilograms in free baggage allowance, and an exclusive on-board cabin. The airline’s Economy Class offers travelers free baggage allowance of 40 kilograms, and free on-board meals with a changing menu every month.
