HCT-Dubai students’ talents, creativity showcased in joint art exhibition

Higher Colleges of Technology –Dubai, women’s campus (HCT-Dubai) has recently hosted “Fusion” a photography exhibition by the HCT-Dubai student Mohammed Ahmed Ahli, and “Henna and Heritage”, an exhibition by student Suqrat bin Bishr. The art exhibition was attended by celebrities, dignitaries and other VIPs.

“Fusion” showcased three different themes that include pictures from the UAE, around the globe and some commercial work.  

Being a passionate photographer and a nature lover, Ahli spent his last summer vacation climbing on icy mountains in the South Island of New Zealand to bring back stories of his journey put together in photographs that showcase his talent behind the lens of his Canon 7D camera. Alongside this trip, Ahli spent most of his time photo-shooting the nature and the landmarks of the UAE to show at this exhibition spectacular views that he saw behind his lens.

Suqrat, meanwhile, prepared for his exhibition “Henna and Heritage” by producing a set of paintings in which he used the henna dye in addition to pieces of furniture, which he has designed and crafted in the past eight months.

He said he had named his exhibition “Henna and Heritage” because the bulk of his work on show highlighted the UAE heritage and henna was used in them.

The unique exhibition featured six paintings and seven pieces of furniture including mirrors, chairs, tables and a window.

The exhibition opened to the public to introduce them to the two students’ talents and to give importance to this type of art and help encourage other photographers come into the light.

The “Fusion” exhibition was Ahli’s first owned exhibition with the help and support of HCT-Dubai.

 “I’m very grateful that Higher Colleges of Technology-Dubai, women’s campus, has given me this opportunity to exhibit my photographs, as part of my graduation project, that I’ve put all my effort to amaze everyone that Emiratis are capable of reaching to this level,” Ahli said.

 Shedding light on Emirati talented photographers, such exhibitions pave the way to success for those Emiratis that are yet to be found under dark shadows.

HCT-Dubai has granted this chance to Ahli so he can be the role model to other photographers who have not yet found the confidence and encouragement to show everyone what their camera lenses are capable of doing.

From his part, Suqrat, a media and mass communication student at HCT- Dubai said he has been motivated to pursue studies in the media because the college study highlights the student’s creativity. He has already produced six films and previously took part in the Gulf Film Festival.
