Dubai Silicon Oasis wins Dubai Quality Appreciation Programme Award

Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park, today announced it has won the prestigious Dubai Quality Appreciation Programme Award (DQAP), recognising its three-year journey of excellence since the adoption of best practices and approaches that comply with the criteria of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) and the Dubai Quality Award.

The Dubai Quality Appreciation Programme Award (DQAP) is a component of the prestigious Dubai Quality Awards that are presented annually to high-performing organisations that can be referred to as industry role models. 

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the distinction offers a ‘roadmap’ to organisations for achieving excellence through the adoption of best practices and systematic deployment of sound approaches. It also mandates companies to continuously measure and review progress. 

His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, handed the award to Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni, Vice-Chairman and CEO of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), Shahla Abdul Razak, Deputy CEO from DSOA, and Dr Juma Al Matrooshi, Executive Vice-President of Business Development at Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, at an event hosted at the Dubai World Trade Centre. 

Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni said: “The reward is a testimony to the free zone’s sustained efforts to observe best practices. While we are excited about this success, we are also gearing up to achieve our next challenge -of applying for the Dubai Quality Award when we gain eligibility. We are confident we will succeed in meeting every criteria of the award with a significant margin.”  

The Dubai Quality Award comprises three layers of achievement. As the first level, the Dubai Quality Appreciation Programme is open to small and medium-sized organisations, from all sectors of the economy. It is also open to larger organisations or divisions within organisations. Winners of this programme use it as a stepping stone to qualify for the next level – the DQA category. Within three years of receiving their feedback report, winners of the Dubai Quality Awards may apply for the ultimate recognition – the Dubai Quality Award Gold category. 

The Dubai Quality Award is based on the Excellence Model of the European Foundation for Quality Management, which has been successfully applied in private and public sector organisations since 1992. 

A wholly-owned entity of the Dubai Government, Dubai Silicon Oasis operates as a free zone technology park for the semiconductor, microelectronic and other high technology-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and R&D facilities in the Middle East and Africa region.
