Dubai Economy Closes Down 14 Stores and Issues 213 Fines for Violation of COVID-19 Guidelines

The Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector in Dubai Economy shut down14 commercial establishments, imposed fines on 213, and alerted 30 after various violations of the precautionary guidelines were found during the field inspections conducted in open markets and shopping centres during January 2021. The violations were chiefly related to face masks and physical distancing.
Hassan BuNafour, Senior Manager of the Field Control Department in CCCP, said: “The field teams were keen on inspecting all areas in Dubai to ensure that commercial establishments adhered to the precautionary guidelines without fail. The inspections found that 15,045 establishments fully complied with the guidelines. The violations were found across diverse businesses, especially those that received customers or ran the risk of overcrowding and hence, lack of adequate physical distancing.”
Emphasising the need to preserving the gains made by the emirate in the current phase of the pandemic Dubai Economy urged everyone to contribute towards keeping the economy moving forward. The precautionary measures have seen a gradual return to normal and safe economic activities in Dubai, leading to the opening of all sectors and the economic reset. Dubai Economy also reminded that any violation of the precautionary guidelines or malpractice that may be found by the inspectors or reported by the public will not be tolerated.
