Dubai Chamber announces the Panel of judges of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced the names of the Panel of Judges for the 6th Cycle of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award. The six-jury panel, which comprises of local and international connoisseurs, is headed by its Chairman H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Naseer Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy. 

The  six jurors are H.E. Mohamed Thani Murshid Al Romaithi, President of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, H.E. Sami Ahmad Dhaen Al Qamzi, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economic Development, Dr. Ali Ahmad Thani Bin Obood, Former Director General of the Civil Service Bureau, Dr. Curt Reimann, First Director of  the Malcom Baldridge Award (USA), Mr. Darshan Singh, Director, Business & Service Excellence SPRING, Singapore, and Mr. Paul Steel, President of Total Quality Inc. (USA).

Lauding the competence and experience of the Panel of Judges H.E. Hamad Buamim, Director General of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award Steering Committee, stated that these prominent local and international jurors will bring added value to the Award and enhance its position as the leading Award for assessing and evaluating business performance in the UAE.

H.E. Hamad Buamim highlighted that after the announcement of the names of the Panel of Judges, preparations are underway for the final day of the Award Ceremony when the winning organisations will be honoured for their business excellence. The Award Ceremony will be held on April 25 at Madinat Jumeirah under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The Award, which is a Dubai Chamber initiative launched in 2005 recognises and celebrates the success of organisations that have contributed and continue to contribute to the economic development of the UAE.

His Excellency added that 122 companies from 17 different economic sectors are participating in seven business categories eligible for the 6th Cycle of the Award. His Excellency also indicated that the Award, which is open to all UAE based for-profit organisations, regardless of their type, size or sectors, allows the participants to strive in several diverse categories thus enhancing their opportunity to emerge as winners. 

"The Award besides promoting a competitive business environment allows the participants to successfully review and benchmark their business models with the best in the sector, while it also provides them with a detailed feedback report on their overall performance including their strengths and areas for improvement,” stated H.E. Hamad Buamim.

The eligible seven business categories are Construction (construction sector); Finance (financial services sector); Manufacturing (manufacturing and free-zones manufacturing sectors), Re-Export (re-exports and free-zones re-export sectors); Service (business services, healthcare, education, hospitality and communication sectors); Trade (oil & gas, trading, retail and technology sectors) and Transport and Logistics, which includes transportation and logistics and supply chain sectors. 

The prestigious Award, which is a Dubai Chamber initiative, is organised annually under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and has won for Dubai Chamber the Dubai Government Excellence Program Best Administrative Project Award for 2007. On its part, the Award honours institutional performance and helps create a competitive business environment in the country. The Award has empowered many organisations meet international standards to achieve outstanding business performance. It helps participating organisations gain exceptional experience through self-analysis where they benefit from other participants’ experiences in business performance.
