AUC Press Participates in the 2026 Cairo International Book Fair
The American University in Cairo (AUC) Press is participating in the 57th Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF). The fair opened to the public today, Thursday, January 22, and will continue until Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Egypt International Exhibitions Center (EIEC) in New Cairo.
The AUC Press stand this year spans 91 square meters and will showcase a wide selection of English-language titles and be staffed by a team of English- and Arabic-speaking professionals.
AUC Press will showcase some fifty new books published last year, including several remarkable works. Highlights include The Libyan Pharaohs by renowned Egyptologist and bestselling author Aidan Dodson, and a new one-volume edition of Taha Hussein’s epic autobiography, The Days, both published just in time for the book fair. Another notable release is I Can Imagine It for Us: A Palestinian Daughter’s Memoir by Mai Serhan, which has received praise in Egypt and internationally. The Press also launched the Arabic-language debut of the bestseller A History of Arab Graphic Design by Bahia Shehab and Haytham Nawar. For the first time, AUC Press is offering an exclusive edition of A Surgeon and a Maverick, the authorized biography of Sir Magdi Yacoub, heart surgeon and philanthropist, personally signed by him.
Hoopoe Fiction, the fiction imprint of AUC Press, is also showcasing the new release Empty Cages, the 2022 Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature–winning novel by Egyptian author Fatma Qandil, translated into English by award-winning translator Adam Talib.
Visitors will enjoy special promotions throughout the thirteen-day event. All AUC Press titles will be available at a 20% discount, with an exclusive selection of over 250 titles offered at discounts of up to 75%, starting at just 50 EGP. Additionally, a dedicated children’s books Section will showcase a diverse range of books for children of all ages.
"We at the AUC Press and Bookstores are thrilled to once again participate in the Cairo International Book Fair," said Thomas Willshire, executive director of AUC Press and Bookstores. "The energy at CIBF is electric: providing power to our passion for publishing. We are proud to exhibit among the world’s publishers here in Cairo and are energized by meeting readers face-to-face. Our stand this year showcases a catalog that reflects the richness of this region and boasts everything from solid academic scholarship to award-winning contemporary fiction. And we celebrate our long association with the legacy of Naguib Mahfouz, the Cairo International Book Fair’s 2026 Personality of the Year," Willshire added.
