ALHOSN University to validate skills of seniors via week-long capstone presentations

ALHOSN University, an Abu Dhabi–based private educational institution dedicated to ‘global knowledge with a local vision,’ will validate the proficiencies of its graduating students via its Capstone Week, running from December 25 to 29, 2011. A total of 127 students from the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Business will present their works under the eight academic programs of Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Interior Design, Software Engineering, Urban Planning, Engineering Management, and Management Information Systems.
The University has scheduled regular classes from December 25 to 27 and Reading Days from December 28 to 29 with no classes. It was announced that the English Lab component for the Capstone Projects is is being redesigned for the spring semester to further emphasize the importance of English communication skills to the overall success of the projects.
“A capstone project is the culminating activity towards a student’s undergraduate degree. Drawing on the students’ academic and practical experiences, these ‘capstones’, both individual and group projects, are designed to be intensive and proactive and require careful planning and implementation. ALHOSN has had great success in conducting its capstones through the dedication and exceptional supervision of its faculty and teaching staff. This particular cohort of capstone students has developed projects that cover a wide range of innovative investigations and designs. These capstones are crowning achievements to the students’ academic experiences and will become an important part of their portfolios as they begin their professional careers,” said Prof. Raymond Tennant, Provost of ALHOSN University.
Named after Abu Dhabi’s historic ALHOSN Palace, ALHOSN University was founded in 2005 by the Abu Dhabi Holding Company in response to a growing local demand for high-quality, value-based educational institutions. With the recent launch of its new Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Program, ALHOSN currently offers 12 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs under the Faculties of Engineering and Applies Sciences, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. ALHOSN accepts students of all nationalities and also accommodates youths with special needs. All its programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
