ALBAWABA - After the red card scandal in the FIFA World Cup match between the U.S. and Bosnia and Herzegovina, lawmakers are rallying support to open investigations into Infantino’s alleged corruption in connection with Trump.

The inciting incident happened when US National Team player Folarin Balogun received a red card in the U.S.-Bosnia game, suspending him from playing in the team’s next game.

However, after Trump called Infantino and intervened on Balogun’s behalf, the suspension was lifted, allowing Balogun to play in the next match.

European parliament lawmakers said that Infantino’s decision to "change the rule on red card suspensions mid-tournament is a disgrace and a perversion of justice,

"Once again, we've seen Infantino and FIFA surrender to the demands of the Trump administration," in a joint statement.

Alongside the European lawmakers, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) also expressed willingness to launch a probe investigating Infantino after human rights group FairSquare filed a complaint against him.

"The beauty of sport is that it is based on impartial and transparent rules. When Infantino allows political pressure to determine who gets to play, this sense of fairness goes out the window," they said.

FIFA was asked for comment about the complaint to the IOC about its president but has still not responded.
