Daniel Malak, an Architectural Engineering student at ALHOSN University, has been proclaimed the winner of the ‘UAE Through Your Eyes’ short film competition jointly organized by the New York Film Academy – Abu Dhabi, the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi, and the US Consulate in Dubai.

Malak’s work won over 17 other entries of different genres. His short film titled ‘Opportunity Beyond Measures’ depicts career and lifestyle possibilities for youths in the UAE using a clever ‘footprints’ theme. It was lauded by jurors for its original concept, filming quality and culture-crossing approach. The win has earned Malak a USD 3,700 scholarship to a 12-week course on digital filmmaking with the New York Film Academy.

“We are proud of the accomplishment of Daniel Malak. He serves as a model of how one can be richly rewarded for pursuing his passion. As his film shows, the UAE holds many opportunities for youths who are willing to work hard and follow their dreams, just like him. He inspires us to share the same message with our students,” said Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor and CEO, ALHOSN University.

Named after Abu Dhabi’s historic ALHOSN Palace, ALHOSN University was founded in 2005 by the Abu Dhabi Holding Company in response to growing local demand for high-quality, value-based educational institutions. It currently offers 12 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs under the Faculties of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. ALHOSN accepts students of all nationalities and also accommodates youths with special needs. All its programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
