Abu Dhabi University has recently been awarded the recognition of “Inspirational Company” at the Bizz Awards 2012. Organized by the World Confederation of Businesses (WORLDCOB), the prestigious Bizz award recognizes companies and organizations for innovation, business excellence and outstanding management performance, making Abu Dhabi University the only higher education institution to ever receive the Bizz award in the Middle East region. 

The announcement was made during a ceremony held at the Sharq Village Hotel and Spa in Doha in the presence of H.E Juma Rashid Saif Al Dhaheri the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Qatar, and Dr. Nabil Ibrahim Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University. Winners of the Bizz 2012 were chosen by the WORLDCOB’s Evaluation Committee and a specialized research team that compiled various data on organizations that are compatible with the award’s business excellence criteria, including: managerial leadership, management systems, quality of goods and services, creativity and innovation, social responsibility, and results, certifications and other recognitions.

On receiving the award, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University expressed the University’s pride and gratitude in being recognized for its excellence among the winners of the Bizz Award 2012; a feat that positions the University in a class of its own as it is the only university to ever receive this award in the Middle East region. “Our pride in receiving the Bizz 2012 has special significance, particularly since the selection process adopts a quite intricate method. The WORLDCOB evaluation committee works with a research team that compiles statistical data from market research companies throughout Europe, Africa and Asia, public relations companies, more than 100 different chambers of commerce from around the world and references from over 3,000 members of WORLDCOB representing almost 70 different countries”, explained Dr. Ibrahim. 

Dr. Ibrahim pointed out that receiving such a prestigious award as the Bizz 2012 is a testament to Abu Dhabi University’s commitment to excellence and international standards, and confirms its keenness in contributing to the national development process which meets the needs and requirements of the policy agenda of the Government of Abu Dhabi and its economic vision 2030. He added: “This award is a stepping stone which brings us closer to achieving our goals of becoming an international university. It also compliments Abu Dhabi University’s various achievements over a short period which include receiving the ISO certification of quality in 2009, the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award in 2010 and most recently entering the ranks of the world’s top 550 universities in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) world university rankings of 2012 -2013”. 

Dr. Ibrahim commended the WORLDCOB for its efforts in organizing the Bizz Awards over the past 8 years in the US, Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia. “The Bizz is a powerful incentive that encourages organizations and institutions to achieve excellence, especially since the WORLDCOB has the support of: Dun & Bradstreet, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the United Nations Global Compact and more than 3,000 members institutions in different parts of the world”, concluded Dr. Ibrahim.

The dream began with the Charter of Abu Dhabi University in the year 2000, After three years of planning, the university opened its doors in September 2003, to an entering class of 1,000 students on its two campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
