From Abu Dhabi to Zurich Alumni celebrate global community

From Abu Dhabi to Zurich and Bogota to Wellington, thousands of London Business School alumni have joined together for its annual event.
This year’s Worldwide Alumni Celebration was the biggest yet with over 90 cities around the world taking part in a range of events, from talks from London Business School faculty and special guests, through to barbeques. Each event was organised by alumni clubs and volunteers.
Sir Andrew Likierman, Dean of London Business School, provided a School update to alumni in the British Consulate in New York, while Andrew Scott, Professor of Economics, talked on his latest research, 'Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the financial crisis three years on', at an event in Dubai, where the School has a base. In Hong Kong, Randall Peterson, Professor of Organisational Behaviour, was talking about his research on team conflict.
Meredith Pierce-Hunter, London Business School’s Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, said: “We have big plans for London Business School and we want our alumni to be part of them - whether they spent a few weeks or several years here, whether it was months or decades ago, and wherever they are based today.”
The theme of the Worldwide Alumni Celebration was ‘Connecting For Impact’. With students from around 130 nationalities studying at London Business School, graduates have access to a global network of experience of over 33,000 alumni.
The School’s flagship MBA programme, ranked number one in the world by the Financial Times, aims to have students from at least four continents in each study group, so that on graduation they have the knowledge and experience to work in any continent.
For the first time, alumni who were not able to attend an event were able to watch London’s Worldwide Alumni Celebrations streamed live. This featured a talk on 'Building brands from the inside out' with London Business School’s Marketing faculty, Professor Nader Tavassoli and Richard Hytner, also a graduate of the Sloan programme and member of the School’s International Alumni Council.
