According to <i>AZZAMAN</i> newspaper, the Ministry of Telecommunication announced that it is willing to install 60,000 fixed phone lines in Bakuba and 250,000 fixed phone lines in Mekdadiya. A senior ministry official said that the ministry had already started to set up a telecommunication center in Bakuba city, which will include a number of offices to provide post, fax and overseas call services to the citizens.
It is worth mentioning that the facilities of the Iraqi
telecommunication ministry were attacked by air through the war. Nevertheless, most of these facilities were lately rebuilt and re-opened.
