According to Almendhar, the Canadian foreign ministry has announced
that Ottawa will grant the Institute for Media policy (a Canadian charity
organization) the amount of 500k Canadian Dollars (some US$400k) in
order to enhance the Iraqi media capabilities. The ministry added that the
project will evaluate the role of Iraqi media in Iraq and in the entire
Middle East. This sum will help to provide the Iraqi media with needed
technical and technological assistance.

The Canadian foreign minister Pierre Pettigrew said that freedom of
press and the existence of civil community are important for democracy and
administrating Iraq in a better way.
