According to Al-Mendhar newspaper, the Iraqi Minister for Education, Dr. Sami Al-Mudaffar, announced that 80 million school books were printed last academic year. These books were distributed to nearly 6 million Iraqi pupils. The minister added that all of the texts, which praised the former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, were removed.
The minister also said that his ministry had recruited some 30,000 school teachers, who were fired by the former regime in Iraq. In addition, the ministry had appointed some 25,000 fresh graduates. Most of the graduates, who studied in Iraq, were delivered jobs in the ministry, the minister added.
