800 Orange internet lab users in Rajm Shami

As part of the Orange Villages project, a CSR initiative launched by Orange Jordan to deliver much needed sustainable development to various rural poverty pockets around the Kingdom, Orange internet lab in Rajm Al Shami village is witnessing huge demand from the local community and the areas around prior to its official opening.
The computer lab, which is located in Nashama Al Badya Association and is equipped with free internet, comes within Orange’s policy in facilitating the chances of wider segments in gaining access to internet service, a necessity to stay connected to the updates worldwide. This comes in line with the Royal vision in spreading the internet culture and the national plan in increasing the internet penetration to 50% by the end of 2011.
The internet lab, which was established as a response to the local community’s request, will be officially inaugurated in the coming weeks. Following the opening, Nashama Al Badya Association will give all locals from both genders the chance to register for training courses on using the computer and the internet in a bid to develop their skills and achieve the purpose of establishing the lab.
Orange Jordan’s CEO Nayla Khawam said: “We are delighted to receive such news which reflect the professionalism of the party we are collaborating with, as well as the engagement of the local community in the newly-established lab which provided many solutions for all society segments from university student to locals who seek to benefit from the internet and learn using computer applications which are basic requirements in today’s life.”
“We are a leading internet provider, we are committed to establishing such labs and carrying on with the implementation of Orange Internet Fund project,” Khawam added.
Nashama Al Badya Association’s President Mr. Rakan Zouri expressed gratitude to Orange Jordan for establishing the lab and for believing in the Association adding, “We are committed to excelling and succeeding in managing and operating the lab in order to develop the community and fulfill internet needs there.”
Delivering on its promise, Orange is currently implementing a number of renovations in the village that include establishment of a football field with artificial lawn, maintenance of schools as well as school library project and the provision of essential medical equipment to the health center.
Orange Jordan’s strategy, which extends over the next three years, boasts an operational budget of JD 3.5 million compromising of two major projects: Orange Internet Fund and Orange Villages.
