Subway restaurants in the Arab world, part of the world’s largest submarine sandwich franchise, today invited suggestions from customers to create a signature sandwich for the region.

Customers can suggest the subs they would like to have at any of the Subway Arabia restaurants. Additionally, suggestions for new subs can also be submitted online through their Facebook page ‘Subway Arabia’ or at http://www.subwayarabia.com starting from 15 June – 30 July. Final choices will be made from the suggestions that reflect the desires of the regional customers.

This initiative comes in an effort to create direct channels of interaction with patrons and enable Subway Arabia to obtain their continuous feedback for revamping the menu to suit the changing tastes. In addition, Subway aims to meet the culinary expectations of its regional consumers and introduce sandwiches that are better adapted to the Arab world.

Joseph Tabet, Regional Director, Subway Middle East and Africa, said: “The importance of the Arab market has been accentuated through our expansion in the region. Subway stores have reached the 106-mark in the UAE, 44 in Saudi Arabia and 44 in Kuwait. This initiative is a result of Subway restaurants desires to provide its patrons in the Arab world with an enhanced new flavour while maintaining the same nutritional value of its global menus.”

Taking forward the Subway principle, customers in the region have the liberty to build their own subs the way they like. Subway Arabia encourages its customers around the world to select the ingredients of their sandwiches while advising them on the amount of saturated fat in several subs and giving them the freedom to design their own subs according to personal taste.

Hisham Ghazal, Regional Marketing Manager, Subway Middle East & Africa, said: “We invite Subway patrons in the Arab world to provide their suggestions on the additions they would like to have. Based on the choice of customers, the respective signature sub will be accordingly added. Our decision to invite recommendations from our loyal patrons in the region will not only help initiate a direct interaction with them but also enable us to have a more thorough understanding of their preferences to help us deliver on them.”

Subway recently became the largest submarine franchise in the Arab world with about 249 restaurants at convenient venues. In addition to the UAE, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, the brand has 17 restaurants in Qatar, 11 each in Jordan and Bahrain, nine in Oman, four in Egypt and five in Lebanon.

With more than 34,500 locations in 98 countries including the Middle East, the Subway restaurant chain is the world’s largest submarine sandwich franchise. Headquartered in Milford, Connecticut, the Subway chain was co-founded by Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck in 1965. The partnership, which continues today, marked the beginning of a remarkable journey — one that made it possible for thousands of individuals to build and succeed in their own business.

The Subway brand has been honoured as the number one franchise opportunity in the Entrepreneur magazine's ’Annual Franchise 500’ listing for 17 of the past 23 years.
